The Arendal name has been carried on through generations of family
After serving in the RAF as a pilot in World War II, Sam’s Grandfather continued as a career pilot until his retirement in 1987. In 1955 SQN,.LDR Eric Robinson OBE MRAeS and his wife Gwynneth were stationed with the Royal Air Force on the Island of SYLT, off the German coast, with their three children.
They spent their leave periods in Norway and on one occasion they became friends with Norwegian family named Pedersen, who lived on the small Island of Fevick off the town of ARENDAL.
On return to England Eric purchased a plot of land and had a house built which they called 'ARENDAL'. When their daughter Philippa, (Sam Robinsons mother) moved to New Zealand, she called her home in Auckland 'ARENDAL'. It has been the name of the Robinson family home for nearly 50 years, so Sam in keeping with the family tradition named his business 'ARENDAL ELECTRICAL' after the name of his Grandfathers house.
